University of Lincoln, Business Studies Conference
Following great links created by the Science Department which saw UoL Physics staff visiting the college to discuss further integration of teaching experiences, our Business Team met UoL staff too.
Firstly, participants learnt about the scale of the Lincoln international Business School with 19 under-graduate courses and 22 postgraduate courses with 2,500 and 560 students respectively. Students have a range of pre-university qualifications including both A-level and BTEC qualifications. There was a discussion on the types of problems that students who study business commonly have and how this can be challenged within lessons.
The Conference was an opportunity for teachers within the Lincolnshire Secondary School to share good practice and knowledge – one session being based around BTEC Business. There was opportunity to have a group discussion about the various types of curriculum, potential revisions sessions in the future for students being delivered by the University of Lincoln staff and establishing a forum for teachers who teach business.
The final sections focussed on student welfare, employability and the newly launched Degree Apprenticeships.
Both Lincoln UTC and the Lincoln International Business School will continue to work closely together to develop and share skills and knowledge.
