Prodrive (Aston Martin Racing)
Year 10 business studies students visited Prodrive in Banbury, Oxfordshire to see Aston Martin race cars being prepared for races in the FIA GT series.
The visit was arranged as part of the Attainment for All programme, which inspires pupils to achieve the highest possible grades in their exams, by highlighting how classroom activities relate to the workplace.
Eleven students saw Prodrive employees creating electrical wiring lumes for the GT4 Le Mans race cars, repairing carbon fibre parts and rebuilding an Aston Martin GTE Pro that won its category at the 2017 Le Mans 24 hour race.
As well as meeting the Prodrive team and hearing about the qualifications and interests needed to enter a career in motorsport, the group also saw a range of heritage models from Colin McRae’s world Championship winning Subaru rally car to Jensen Button’s Formula 1 car.
