Festive greetings!

Our UTC community has really pulled together this term and embraced the season of giving. We have raised money for the MS Therapy Centre, collected food and essential items as part of our ‘Reverse Advent Calendar’ for the Nomad Trust, and donated equipment and warm clothes to a local homeless charity Let Them Eat Cake. We are so proud of our students for working together to make a huge difference to the lives of others at this time of year.

The 2020 summer exam period is on the horizon and revision should start over the Christmas break for Y11 and Y13. Remember to try and find a balance between work and play – enjoy the festivities but try and block out some time for studying too! This term we hosted a successful revision evening for our Y11 parents and every day leading up to the start of GCSE examinations we will be posting a ‘big question’ on Twitter and in our LUTC Y11 Revision Community on Facebook, so remember to join this group and check out the questions each day.

Over the coming months we will be encouraging all of our Y11 and Y13 students to begin planning for the future and considering their options for next steps after completing their examinations. To help support this we are in the midst of careers advice and guidance interviews with our expert from Complete Careers. We have begun to receive the first wave of internal sixth form applications from our Y11s and look forward to more of these after the festive break. We fully support our students in making the best decision for themselves and all of our staff are available to offer advice and provide guidance as needed.

Time passes quickly and with a third of the academic year now finished we hope that all of our students continue to make the most of the opportunities that are available to them whilst studying at Lincoln UTC. For Y10 and Y12 the hard work that you put in now can really make a difference in the long run.

On behalf of all our staff I wish our students and parents/carers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Don't forget that there is a teacher training day on Monday 6th January - so we will see all of our students back at the UTC on Tuesday 7th January.
