“Pupils benefit from high-quality facilities that enhance the delivery of the curriculum. They learn in a business-like environment. Students in the sixth form have access to a range of academic and technical qualifications. They gain the qualifications they need to progress to destinations that meet their aspirations. ” - Ofsted, 2024
Our Sixth Form, known as UTC6, provides a highly specialised and rewarding education for students who are passionate about Science, Engineering, Maths or Technology. With a curriculum designed around real pathways into STEM careers, we offer an environment where students can truly excel. Our post-16 outcomes are consistently strong, that allows for the very best pathways into higher education, apprenticeships and employment to be explored.
Small class sizes are a defining feature of UTC6. They allow us to personalise learning, provide high-quality academic support and intervention, and build strong working relationships between staff and students. The result is a calm, focused and mature atmosphere where students develop confidence, independence and a genuine enthusiasm for their studies.
Students also benefit from increased freedom and responsibility as they move into post-16 education. UTC6 students are permitted to leave campus at lunchtime and during non-contact periods, helping them to develop the independence and self-management skills expected at university, in apprenticeships and in the workplace.
Our curriculum is centred on core STEM subjects. Around half of our students pursue a traditional A Level pathway, while the others complete a more focused route within either Engineering or Art and Design. All of our focussed pathways are the equivalent of three A-Levels – in terms of UCAS points.
Many students also choose a blended route, combining A Levels and vocational qualifications to build a programme that suits their strengths, interests and ambitions. Whatever the route, all students gain access to expert teaching, specialist facilities and opportunities that connect their studies to real industry practice.
We warmly encourage prospective students and their families to come and see the UTC in action. By visiting us and seeing UTC6 in action is the best way to experience our unique environment, meet our staff and students, and discover whether Lincoln UTC is the right place for the next stage of your education.
